McKENNA AND HEGGARTY STRIKE TO SEND BALLYCLARE THROUGH
Goals from Liam McKenna and Ciaran Heggarty helped Ballyclare Comrades progress in the BetMcLean League Cup at the expense of Queen's University at Dixon Park.
McKenna, on his debut, opened the scoring for Ballyclare just before the half-hour mark after Joe Tully got on the end of a ball over the top to slip McKenna through to find the bottom corner.
The Students levelled eight minutes after the break through Matthew Hughes' 25-yard drive which gave Comrades keeper Richard Purcell no chance.
But, barely four minutes after that, Heggarty bagged what proved to be the winner from the edge of the six yard box from a McKenna free-kick which caused problems in the visiting defence before ending up in the net.
