Glentoran progressed to the next round of the BetMcLean League Cup following a comfortable five goal win against Banbridge Town.
Youngster Mal Smith opened the scoring for Glentoran after just eleven minutes against their Lough 41 Premier Intermediate League opponents to set the home side on their way.
Glentoran looked comfortable throughout and doubled their lead with 22 minutes gone, captain Marcus Kane marking his new contract extension with the club with a goal from a corner.
Jay Donnelly added a third as Glentoran began to turn up the pressure on Banbridge Town on 37 minutes following a free-kick from Gael Bigirimana.
There was still time for a fourth for the Glens before the break, as Ciaran O’Connor popped up with a minute left to strike the ball past the goalkeeper.
Despite a raft of substitutions which seemed to take the pace out of the game, Mal Smith added his second of the evening, and Glentoran’s fifth on 68 minutes to seal a comfortable victory in their quest for a first League Cup trophy since 2010.
