LINFIELD DO ENOUGH TO PROGRESS IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Linfield progressed to the next stage of the UEFA Champions League following this scoreless draw with La Fiorita in San Marino's Stadio di Serravalle.

The Blues, with a one-goal advantage from the first leg, secured the result they needed to set up a Second Qualifying Round clash with Scottish champions Celtic.

Linfield's best chance during a cagey first half came on 36 minutes when Jamie Mulgrew crossed from the right for Cameron Stewart to head just over from close range while home 'keeper Gianluca Vivan thwarted Andrew Waterworth moment from the break as he was poised to pounce on a Niall Quinn cross from the left.

Waterworth did have the ball in the net midway through the second half when he turned home an Andrew Burns delivery only for the referee to rule the goal out offside.

The Sammarinese hosts almost grabbed the goal they needed to force extra-time when Adrian Ricchiuti saw a goal bound effort blocked following a period of sustained pressure.
