Linfield ended their UEFA Women's Champions League campaign with defeat to hosts Anderlecht in Brussels.

After beating Greek opponents PAOK at the weekend Phil Lewis' side faced the Belgians in confident mood but two goals from international Laura Deloose midway through the first half put Anderlecht very much in the driving seat.

However, the Blues did pull a goal back ten minutes into the second half when Kirsty McGuinness levelled from the spot after she had been fouled in the box.

But Jana Coryn restored Anderlecht's two-goal lead after the hour. Rebecca Bassett did come close for Linfield in stoppage time with an effort off the post.
