Glenavon winger Josh Daniels has left Mourneview Park in a cross channel move to join League One side Shrewsbury Town on a two-year deal.

Daniels, who signed for Gary Hamilton from Derry City in August 2017, caught the eye during the course of his 99 outings and 16 goals for the Lurgan Blues.

Hamilton paid tribute to the departing 24-year-old, insisting he leaves with the best wishes of everyone connected to the club.

"I’m delighted that he’s got his opportunity,” he told the club’s official website.

"His ambition has always been to go across the water and play full time football. He’s had a drive in him to get there and to be fair, when we spoke in the summer, Josh had told me that no matter what he was leaving next season. That was due to the fact that he wanted to be a full-time footballer.

"Nobody deserves this chance more than Josh. He has been a gem to work with. He’s as honest as the day is long and we all know his ability levels. But it’s more than that – it’s his attitude and his mental toughness is incredible.

"Josh has been strong mentally and at Glenavon he has found a place where he can enjoy his football. We give him our best wishes."
