Linfield's Shayne Lavery has been named in the Northern Ireland squad for the forthcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Romania and Norway next month.

The 21-year-old is the sole Danske Bank Premiership representative amongst the 26 strong panel - Ian Barclough's first as manager - but one of a number who have previously played in the domestic leagues alongside Liam Boyce (Cliftonville), Stuart Dallas (Coagh United, Crusaders), Niall McGinn (Dungannon Swifts), Michael Smith (Ballyclare Comrades, Ballymena United) and Gavin Whyte (Crusaders). Also called up is Joel Cooper, Lavery's former team-mate at Linfield who made the switch to Oxford United last month.

To date Lavery has four caps. He made his debut in May 2018 as a late substitute for Josh Magennis in the friendly against Panama. His next appearance came in the win over Luxembourg in September 2019 followed by the two UEFA European Championship qualifiers against Germany last year.

Northern Ireland travel to Romania on 4th September before hosting Norway three days later.
