The opening round of Lough 41 Premier Intermediate League games produced victories for Armagh City, Bangor, Dollingstown, Newington and Portstewart.

Armagh City came out on top by the odd goal in seven away to Limavady United in the highest scoring game of the evening.

The Eagles raced into a commanding three-goal lead after half-an-hour thanks to efforts from Padraig Judge, Conor Mullen and Ruairi Duffy before Ryan Doherty, Dean Brown and Matthew Brown all struck for the Roesiders to level matters at the break.

However, substitute Ross Lavery fired home the winner for Armagh late in the second half with a 25-yard free-kick.

Bangor swept to victory over Tobermore United at Clandeboye Park. Jack Upritchard opened the scoring with just over a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock but Declan Martin levelled for Tobermore a little over ten minutes later.

But Reece Neale and Ben Arthurs found the net for Bangor early in the second half to secure the points for the home side, who also had the luxury of seeing a penalty saved by Lukasz Bednarz.

The evening began with three games kicking off at 6:45pm. In these Newington recorded the biggest win, 3-1 away to the PSNI, but they had to come from behind to do so.

Kyle McCleery opened the scoring for the Police after just two minutes - the first goal of the new season - but Aodhán Gillen, Neil Cummings and Patrick Downey all scored for the Swans and new boss Paul Hamilton.

Dollingstown also recorded a two-goal victory in their defeat of Lisburn Distillery. Daniel Gordon opened the scoring midway through the first half with Gary Liggett completing the job after the break.

Meanwhile, at Mullaghacall, a Ryan Doherty goal before the hour was enough for Portstewart to get the better of Banbridge Town.
