HW Welders clinched the U21 Development League championship with a 5-3 victory over Warrenpoint Town in the play-off at Stangmore Park.

The Welders, Section A winners, moved in front after 13 minutes through Jack Kinner before Ryan Moore bagged his first of the evening seven minutes later following a quick counter-attack.

'Point responded positively courtesy of a Jamie O'Flaherty finish into the top corner just three minutes after that but Moore struck again just after the half-hour mark to restore the Welders' two-goal cushion.

However a couple of goals early in the second half saw Section B winners Warrenpoint storm back into the game.

Stephen Reid pulled one back on 52 minutes with a header past keeper Dylan Agnew with Niall Lennon levelling barely three minutes after that.

But back came the Welders with two goals in the final ten minutes to secure the title.

Cain Stewart restored their advantage on 81 minutes, with Moore making sure with his hat-trick goal not long after that.
