PORTS DROP FIRST POINTS AS PSNI FIGHT BACK

Portadown dropped their first points of the season with this draw away to PSNI at Newforge.

The Ports needed just seven minutes to take the lead when Niall Henderson converted at the second attempt after his initial spot-kick, awarded for a foul on Matt Hazley, was saved by PSNI 'keeper Jordan Williamson.

Further chances followed through Hazley, Kyle McVey and Kevin Amuneke as Niall Currie's side looked to extend their advantage.

The PSNI levelled within a minute of the second half through Christopher Watts after he burst through to show great composure to slot the ball past John Connolly.

And they might have gone on to seal the points when Owen Moody tested Connolly with a header while Mark McCullagh later crossed from the right but Ashton McDermott was unable to nod the ball home.
