Sion Swifts racked up a six-goal victory at Derry City on the opening day of the campaign with Teegan Lynch and Kirsty McGuinness both netting a brace.
Irish youth international Lynch struck twice in the early stages for Tony McGinley’s side - each time assisted by Kerry Brown - either side of a goal from debutant striker and Northern Ireland international Caitlin McGuinness, who was set-up by her sister Kirsty and showed great composure to side-foot home past Derry goalkeeper Clare Friel.
Both sisters - each signed from Linfield this summer - combined again for the fourth, the standout goal of the night, with Kirsty rocketing home her first Sion goal in the 39th minute from 30 yards, effectively finishing the game as a contest.
Kirsty turned provider once more for the fifth goal in the 75th minute with her corner headed home by Kelly Crompton, before Kirsty got her second and Sion’s sixth late on after once more combining with 17-year-old Caitlin.
Derry rarely threatened a disciplined and energetic Sion side, with Tara O’Connor having their best chance in the 71st minute.
