Linfield Ladies retained their Dankse Bank Women's Premiership title with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Newry City Ladies.
The Blues and Newry locked horns at Rathmore Grammar for a title show down.
It was the defending champions that started the game well and Megan Bell was brought down inside the area and the referee pointed to the spot on the nine minutes. Up stepped Northern Ireland international Kirsty McGuinness who calmly sidefooted into the bottom left corner.
Only three minutes later and Linfield doubled their lead when Alison Smyth's powerful strike from 25 yards riffled into the roof of the net from a McGuinness pass.
Mid way through the half Newry started to enjoy more possession and they began to cause the Linfield defence problems. On 20 mins Aimee Mackin could only stab wide of the left post and Elemize Belem shot over the cross bar on 22 minutes from a Grace Murray freekick.
Newry deservedly got themselves on the score sheet on the 28th minute as they where awarded a penalty. Aimee Mackin was brought down inside the box and Amanda Dias scored from the spot and gave Newry some hope.
Just after the half hour mark Newry's Aimee Mackin tested Lauren Perry in the Linfield goal but she held well from Mackin's powerful strike.
Approaching half time Linfield began to regain more possession and scored their third of the night. Alison Smyth pounced on a loose ball inside the box and stabbed home her second of the evening.
After the half time break Newry needed to score the next goal and on 47 minutes a Belem shot from an acute angle tested Perry in the Linfield goal.
Linfield then sealed the title on the 55th minute when Kirsty McGuinness curled the ball into the top right corner from 25 yards. The McGuinness goal coming from a well worked move down the right side of the pitch.
At this stage in the game Newry where committing players forward and half time sub Celine Curtis had her strike saved from inside the box.
Both sides had opportunities in the final ten minutes but Linfield held on to record a 4-1 victory and made it back to back Dankse Bank Women's Premiership titles. Newry City Ladies finish the season in 3rd position.
