Knockbreda and Larne gained an equal share of the points and goals in this season opener at Breda Park.

The opening exchanges were fairly even with both teams having chances. Larne took the lead on 22 minutes when Breda's defence failed to deal with a ball on their bye line. A cut back pass found Martin Donnelly in the box with time to control and shoot left footed low into the net.

The second half began in deteriorating weather conditions with the visitors having more ball possession.

However on 52 minutes following a good passing move involving Ryan Newberry, Brendan Bennett controlled the ball on the edge of the box. His trickery saw him outwit his marker and fire an unstoppable shot high into the net for the equaliser.

The visitors pressed for a winning goal but Breda's defence stood firm. Indeed, Knockbreda almost snatched victory in added time when substitute Rhys Clelland broke free but shot narrowly past the post.
