ARDS PRESENTED WITH THE BELFAST TELEGRAPH CHAMPIONSHIP ONE TROPHY

ARDS lifted the Belfast Telegraph Championship One trophy in front of a packed Clandeboye Park on Saturday afternoon, after beating Dergview 2-0.

Ards opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a magnificent team goal that was finished off by Neil Dougan. Dougan rifled the ball home from 15 yards after a lovely lay off from Jimmy McIlhagga.

The big crowd had to wait for the second the goal, but it duly arrived in the 69th minute when Greg Hall tapped home from close range.

That strike was Ards' 100th goal of the season, crowning an already magnificent season for Niall Currie's men.

A 600 strong crowd waited after the game, to see team captain James Cully receive the trophy.

Ards can now look forward to the Premiership, after seven years out of the top flight.
