DUNDELA raced to the top of Belfast Telegraph Championship 1 with a thumping four goal defeat of Knockbreda at Wilgar Park.

Daniel Burns opened the scoring after just two minutes when he cut in from the left to connect with a Mark McClelland through ball.

Jamie Jackson might have made it 2-0 just a couple of minutes later after he found himself one-on-one with Knockbreda 'keeper Brian Neeson only to fire over the bar.

At the other end, a minute later, Miguel Chines almost levelled for 'Breda when his shot cannoned off the post with Steven Hislop's follow up producing a great stop from Duns 'keeper Steven McKay.

Dundela did extend their advantage on 33 minutes when Owain Beggs converted from the spot after McClelland had been upended by Gary Chisholm.

Knockbreda were reduced to ten men six minutes after the break when Adam Wright was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Beggs.

Despite their greater numbers it took Dundela until the 78th minute to add a third when substitute Michael Halliday slotted home a McClelland knock down.

Gary Irwin then completed the scoring with Dundela's second penalty of the evening on 82 minutes.
