COMRADES HIT FIVE AT THE SHOWGROUNDS

League leaders Ballyclare Comrades produced a clinical performance to defeat Limavady United at The Showgrounds.

The Roesiders moved in front after just three minutes when a defensive error from a Joel Bradley ball into the area allowed Robbie Hume to tap into the net.

Ballyclare levelled on 24 minutes through Adam Gray after he outpaced Hugh Carlin before firing across Paul Wells into the bottom corner.

The visitors then edged in front early in the second half courtesy of Stewart Nixon's header from Gray's cross.

Then, three minutes after that, Jason Johnston made it 3-1 in similar circumstances, again beating Wells with a header.

United were given a way back into the game on 58 minutes after Hume converted from the spot after a penalty had been awarded for handball.

But, five minutes after that, Gray restored Ballyclare's two-goal cushion with a volley through a crowd of players followed swiftly by Adam McCart's back post header.

It got worse for Limavady when they were reduced to ten men following John Watt's 67th minute dismissal for a second bookable offence but there was some relief towards the end when Hume claimed his hat-trick with a run and shot past Paddy Flood.
