Bluefin Sport Championship side Portadown announced the departure of manager Niall Currie at the weekend.

The announcement was made on the club’s website following Saturday’s scoreless draw with HW Welders at Shamrock Park.

“Portadown FC wishes to announce that Team Manager Niall Currie and the club have parted company.

“We thank Niall for his service and commitment to the club over the last 14 months and wish him every success for the future.”

A former goalkeeper with the club, Currie was appointed in December 2016 as the County Armagh club subsequently dropped out of the Danske Bank Premiership. He leaves the Ports currently in fifth place in the Championship table.

Next up for Portadown is a home game on Friday night against league leaders Newry City in the Bluefin Sport Championship (kick-off: 7.45pm)
