Dundela signalled their Championship intentions with this comprehensive four-goal defeat of fellow challengers Portadown at Shamrock Park.

Jordan Hughes created the first effort of note after ten minutes with a shot from distance which Ports keeper Declan Dunne did well to turn over the bar.

At the other end Dundela keeper Ryan McBride acted promptly to deny Darren Murray as the Portadown man looked to take the ball past him.

Adam Salley had two chances later in the first half but the deadlock was broken on the stroke of half-time when Hughes fired home from the edge of the six yard box after Daniel Burns cut the ball across from the left.

Portadown looked to get back into the game after the break, creating opportunities through Johnny Flynn and Sean Mackle while, for Dundela, Ben Murdock tested Dunne who responded with a fantastic stop.

But Dundela did double their tally on 70 minutes with Hughes' second of the game. This time Carl McComb provided the telling ball for Hughes to shoot past Dunne from around 15 yards.

Portadown's afternoon got worse soon after when Murray was shown a straight red card for serious foul play before, a couple of minutes after that, David McMaster blasted home a third from the edge of the area.

Substitute TJ Murray then completed the scoring late in the game after showing composure to bring the ball into the area down the left and firing low into the opposite corner.
