FERRIS AT THE DOUBLE FOR NORTHERN IRELAND U19s

Portadown striker Callum Ferris played a huge part in Northern Ireland U19s victory over their Faroe Islands counterparts on Tuesday evening at Stangmore Park.

The 18-year-old bagged two goals in a 4-0 win for Stephen Frail's side and along with Glenavon's Patrick Burns was one of two locally based players selected for the starting XI, with Dean Corrigan (Ballinamallard United), Ryan Carmichael (Portadown), Jake Corbett and Trai Hume (both Linfield) all named on the bench.

Northern Ireland's other goals came via Stevenage's Liam Smyth and Jack Scott (Wolverhampton Wanderers).

The sides meet again at the Newry Showgrounds on Thursday, kick-off 1pm.
