Despite an early setback Loughgall ran out comfortable winners against Ballyclare Comrades in the Bluefin Sport Championship.

It was the Comrades who struck first with just three minutes on the clock, as midfielder Samuel McIlveen stepped up to fire a superb free-kick past Gareth Buchanan to give the visitors the lead.

The advantage lasted until the half hour mark, when Loughgall’s David McCullough equalised for the home side which took the two sides into the break level.

In the second half, it was all one way traffic as within five minutes Marc McConnell had put the Villagers in front for the first time in the game.

A quick fire double from Loughgall midway through the half killed the game as a contest as firstly Nathanial Ferris made it three on 65 minutes, with Peter Campbell adding a fourth two minutes later.

Substitute Joe Tully scored a late consolation goal for the Comrades on 83 minutes.
