FURTHER INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR UNDER-19 STARLETS

Glenavon's Patrick Burns, Linfield duo Jake Corbett and Trai Hume plus Portadown striker Callum Ferris picked up some invaluable international experience as Northern Ireland faced Portugal in an Under-19 friendly at Mourneview Park.

Burns, Corbett and Hume all played the full 90 minutes in what turned out to be a 3-1 victory for the Portuguese while Ferris came on with just over a quarter-of-an-hour remaining for Brighton & Hove Albion's Ben Wilson.

In addition, Linfield keeper David Wilson and Newry City striker John McGovern were unused substitutes.

The game was the latest in the quadrangular preparation tournament currently being held in Northern Ireland ahead of the European Championships here next summer. Stephen Frail's charges began the series on Tuesday evening with a 3-0 defeat to Norway and wrap things up on Monday against Germany, also at Mourneview Park (kick-off 7:30pm).
