LARNE came to Tillysburn looking for their first points of the season and left with a share of the spoils.

For long periods the play was confined to the middle of the park with neither keeper being unduly tested.

Larne set the early tempo and they easily contained the odd Welders foray into their half.

Paul Maguire and Andrew Simms ensured that the first thirty minutes was mainly Larne.

The second half saw the Welders take the initiative. They had a few chances to go ahead and would have but for some excellent goalkeeping from visiting 'keeper Gibbons.

Johnston was brought down but the penalty shouts were waved away by the referee and Gibbons again came to Larne's rescue late on when he managed to get his feet to a goal-bound effort.
