Aaron McKee (Ards)

THE Welders took the lead after 20 minutes when Ards defender Gary Spence headed the ball back to his keeper only to see it soar over McKibbin's head and into the net.

Josh Cahoon had the best chance of the half to put the Welders two up but blew it when he shot straight at the keeper.

Ards were dangerous on the break and Dougherty was called upon time after time to keep them at bay.

With half time approaching the Welders went two up when Stuart King blasted an unstoppable free kick from twenty yards past the Ards keeper.

On the restart Ards took advantage of the strong winds and forced the Welders to defend for most of the early period.

Their constant pressure was rewarded when McKee netted after connecting with a Picking cross.

The Welders' "backs to the wall" situation was enhanced when defender William Armstrong was sent off for a second yellow card offence.

Dougherty was in constant action repelling the Ards attacks and just when it looked like they had weathered the storm Paul Muir got his marching orders along with Ards' James Cully after the assistant referee had reported an incident to referee Evan Boyce.

The final ten minute saw Ards pile on the pressure and the equaliser arrived with just five minutes remaining when substitute Glenn McMillan put through his own goal.

This signalled a frantic attempt from Ards to get the winner and both Kyle McDowell and Aaron McKee shot wide from good positions.
