Larne extended their lead at the top of the Bluefin Sport Championship to four points following their win over Dergview at Inver Park.

Thomas Stewart opened the scoring on 26 minutes as he latched onto a smart through-ball from Martin Donnelly, but cutting inside and drilling a low shot from the edge of the box out of Alan Buchanan’s reach in the Dergview goal. Goalscorer Stewart was forced off with a nasty injury ten minutes later and replaced by David McDaid.

Into the second half and the Invermen wrapped up the three points with their second goal of the game on 65 minutes as Jeff Hughes nipped in to poke a corner home.

With results elsewhere, Larne’s win allowed the gap at the top of the Championship to open up to four points over second placed Dundela.
