NIFWA Chair Keith Bailie presents Dundela's Jordan Hughes with his Belleek trophy

Dundela forward Jordan Hughes was named Championship Player of the Month for September by the Northern Ireland Football Writers' Association.

Hughes bagged seven goals in the month, hitting hat-tricks against both Loughgall and Limavady United.

Hughes has previously played in the Premiership for Lisburn Distillery, Glentoran and Ards. Last season, he was named Premier Intermediate League Player of the Year by the NI Football Awards.

Hughes said, "It's an honour to win this award. I'd like to thank the Writers' for selecting me. I'd also like to thank my teammates who have been fantastic since we won promotion.

"We've made a really good start to the season and we're determined to maintain that start. A top-six finish in our first season back the Championship would be a massive achievement."

NIFWA Chair Keith Bailie, "It's not just the quantity of Jordan's goals that impressed the Football Writers', it's also their quality. Jordan has an eye for the spectacular. He's been a major part of Dundela's success in recent years."

Hughes and his Dundela teammates will face Ballinamallard United at Wilgar Park on Saturday.
