NO GOALS IN SHAMROCK STALEMATE

Neither Portadown nor visitors HW Welders managed to find the net in this encounter at Shamrock Park.

The Ports enjoyed the majority of possession during the opening period with Gary Warwick and Chris Lavery having half chances while Adam Salley had a go from distance.

For the Welders Ryan Deans was unlucky to see a shot on goal deflected over the bar before David Rainey tested 'keeper Chris McGaughey.

McGaughey's opposite number, Robert Robinson, then had to be alert to thwart substitute Peter Duffin at the near post.

After the break Alberto Balde combined with Lavery only to flash his effort just wide of an upright.

Salley was next to have a go with a drive from inside the box but the Welders remained a threat, too, with Scott McMillan forcing McGaughey into a save to keep out a header with Deans then directing another nodded effort wide of the target.
