Portadown swept to a thumping six-goal victory over HW Welders at Tillysburn Park.

Adam Salley opened the scoring for the Ports after 12 minutes with a well taken volley into the bottom corner after Sean Mackle flicked a ball over the home defence.

Aaron Duke doubled Portadown's lead with nine minutes of the first half remaining. Mackle again provided the telling ball which Duke met with a bullet header into the top corner.

The Welders might have pulled a goal back just before the break only for Paul Finnegan to head a Matthew Ferguson header off the line.

But, right on the stroke of half-time, Salley added a third for the Ports with a thunderous drive past the keeper after picking up a pass from Duke.

That was how it stayed until the 71st minute when Ryan Carmichael knocked home number four with a close range finish following Liam McKenna's defence splitting pass.

A fifth goal arrived on 83 minutes after Martin Bradley beat a defender after connecting with a Carmichael ball before, with four minutes left, Luke Wilson completed the scoring with a nod past Ryan Brown from Greg Hall's cross.
