Portadown moved into third place in the Bluefin Sport Championship following Adam Salley’s double strike against Ballyclare Comrades.

In an action packed first half at Shamrock Park, the home side struck first via the penalty spot after 24 minutes with Adam Salley converting after Kyle Neill had been fouled.

Four minutes later, it was Ballyclare Comrades who were awarded a penalty by referee Keith Gibbons when Samuel McIlveen’s shot was handled on the line by Kyle Neill. The Portadown defender was branded a red card, but McIlveen seen his subsequent penalty saved by McGaughey.

Seven minutes before the break, Portadown doubled their lead as Chris Lavery’s cross was met by Adam Salley for his second of the afternoon and eighth of the league season.

Matthew Tipton’s side held out in the second half for their third consecutive win in the Bluefin Sport Championship.
