STOPPAGE TIME PORTS CLAIM FERNEY PARK POINTS

A Kevin Braniff goal five minutes into stoppage time earned Portadown a late victory over Ballinamallard United at Ferney Park.

Jamie Douglas had fired the Ports in front after eight minutes when he nipped in to capitalise after the Mallards had failed to clear a cross properly.

Ballinamallard had two chances to level before the break when Chris Kelly crashed a shot off the left post before Ben McCann spurned a great opportunity when his header landed on top of the goal.

Adam Salley and Darren Murray both went close after the break for the Ports before Ryan Campbell equalised on 55 minutes after showing neat feet in the penalty area to help find space for a low shot.

Campbell went on to hit the woodwork for a third time in the match whilst substitute Ryan Carmichael passed up a great opportunity at the other end as both sides searched for a winner.

Eventually it came in the 95th minute after Braniff stepped up to curl a sensational free kick over the wall from the edge of the penalty area and past John Connolly.
