TEN-MAN VILLAGERS DENIED BY LATE BREDA LEVELLER

Loughgall were denied by a late equaliser at home to Knockbreda after playing most of the game with ten-men.

After a slow start to proceedings during which neither side really looked like scoring the dynamic of the game changed when Loughgall's Declan McVeigh was dismissed by referee Keith Kennedy for bringing down Patrick Cafolla as he charged forward.

With a man advantage Knockbreda still failed to give Villagers' keeper Gareth Buchanan much to do for the rest of the first half.

Loughgall opened the scoring just after the break when Eddie Shaw turned the ball into his own net after a Marc McConnell corner was delivered into the box and despite Knockbreda protests that keeper Dean Smith had palmed the ball away.

The goal sparked Loughgall into life and moments later they almost doubled their lead when another McConnell delivery reached Nathaniel Ferris but his powerful header produced a good save from Smith.

Knockbreda finally tried to make their extra man count with a Cafolla effort saved by Buchanan only as far as Jordan Baker but his rebound was cleared off the line by Mark Stewart.

With the ten-men looking like they would secure victory Knockbreda levelled through Darius Roohi after he was able to pick up on a loose ball to tap a finish past Buchanan.
