Limavady United's hopes of avoiding the drop suffered another blow with this home defeat to Loughgall, a result which leaves Sean Friars' side eight points adrift at the bottom.

The Villagers moved in front after half-an-hour through Peter Campbell who made no mistake from the spot after Ryan Doherty was penalised following a tussle in the box.

Campbell might have added a second six minutes later only to fire against the base of the near post.

Limavady's cause wasn't helped soon after when they were reduced to ten men following Brian McClean's dismissal for collecting his second caution of the game for unsporting behaviour following an earlier booking for dissent.

Loughgall squandered a succession of chances after the break before finally doubling their lead on 66 minutes through Ben Neill's finish down the right from a tight angle.

Then, four minutes after that, substitute Andrew Hoey added a third after his shot took a deflection past Paul Wells.

Alex Pomeroy grabbed a late consolation for Limavady, beating two men before firing a fine effort beyond Gareth Buchanan into the top corner from outside the box.
