After losing in their last two outings HW Welders returned to winning ways with this defeat of Ballyclare Comrades at Tillysburn Park.

Ballyclare declared their intentions as early as the fifth minute when they took the lead through Mark Kelly but, stung by this, the Welders hit back six minutes later when veteran striker David Rainey equalised with a header from a Davy Graham corner kick.

On actual chances created the home side should have been well in front but sloppy finishing cancelled that out. Ballyclare were creative and caused a threat on occasions but Ben McCauley in the home goal showed his ability with a few eye catching saves.

The Welders took the lead after twenty-nine minutes through a Ross Arthurs effort, a neatly placed header into the bottom corner and they were beginning to find some loopholes in the Comrades defence but again the lack of the final ball let them down. Gwiazda had a couple of runs but his finishing efforts went wide.

With the game entering its last stages it was the Welders who looked the more likely to increase the score but as earlier the final ball let them down.
