WOODWORK RUINS CARRICK'S PERFECT START

CARRICK Rangers surrendered their 100% start to the campaign with this draw at a Donegal Celtic side still awaiting their first victory.

The opening minutes pointed to a comfortable away victory.

Celtic 'keeper Gerard McErlean fouled Richard Gibson just outside the box after only ten seconds and was fortunate to remain on the pitch, picking up a booking for his trouble.

From the resulting free kick, Jody Lynch saw his curling effort impressively saved.

Later in the half Corey Davidson released Jarlath O'Rourke who, in turn, crossed for Lynch but his header was directed straight at McErlean.

Celtic's best moment of the first half saw Joe Todd given too much room on the edge of the area only for his subsequent show to drift a few inches wide.

Aaron Harmon rattled a free-kick against the Celtic bar on 50 minutes while, at the other end, Carrick 'keeper Gareth Deane touched a Conor Downey effort against an upright.

Rangers applied late pressure, with Harmon the driving force from midfield, but the home defence stood firm.
