Armagh City celebrate after clinching the Championship 2 title (Picture: Gary Hancock)

ARMAGH City laid claim to the Belfast Telegraph Championship 2 title following a 4-0 defeat of Banbridge Town at Holm Park.

Marty Rice's side, having already clinched promotion at the weekend, went into the match knowing a win would be enough to get their hands on the title with a couple of games to spare.

Philip Donnelly opened the scoring on 21 minutes after finishing off a move which also included Shea McGerrigan and Stephen Murray in the build up.

Ultan Lennon might have added a second soon after only to see his header from Dale Montgomery's corner cleared off the line.

However, he wasn't to be denied just moments from the break when another header did find the net, this time from a Shea McGerrigan delivery.

It was 3-0 just after the hour mark when Donnelly met an Eamon Kelly through ball to finish with a low shot past the visiting 'keeper.

And ten minutes later he grabbed his hat-trick to complete the scoring with a rasping left-foot effort.
