BANNSIDERS, SKY BLUES AND WHITES RETURN TO PRE-SEASON ACTION

COLERAINE, Ballymena United and Lisburn Distillery became the latest clubs to kick off their countdown to the new season.

Coleraine hit six goals past Championship 2 opponents Moyola Park as they got their close season programme off to a high-scoring start.

A third-minute own goal from a Paul Owens cross saw the Bannsiders take an early lead before David McDaid volleyed home a second 20 minutes later.

Ruairi Harkin added a third within sixty seconds while Gary Browne made it 4-0 ten minutes from the break with a header from Craig Moore's cross.

Browne then added number five from the spot on 67 minutes while the scoring was completed when McDaid laid the ball off for Joe McNeill to fire into the corner of the net.

ABBEY VILLA 2-1 LISBURN DISTILLERY
Lisburn Distillery kicked off their summer programme with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Amateur League 1A side Abbey Villa at Adams Park.

Niall Derry scored for the Whites who continue their preparations next Thursday with a visit to Sport & Leisure Swifts.

Ballymena United split their squad to begin their pre-season build-up with visits to Bangor and Desertmartin.

The Sky Blues lost to Championship 1 opponents Bangor 2-1 at Clandeboye Park.

Andy Morrow and Richard Gibson struck in the first half for the Seasiders before Matt Tipton pulled one back late in the game.

Meanwhile, in Desertmartin, Darren Boyce and Mark McCullagh found the net to defeat the Ballymena & Provincial Intermediate League side.
