Dundela celebrate with the league trophy (Picture: Gary Hancock)

Dundela slipped to a home defeat to Banbridge Town but that disappointment didn't spoil the party as Russell Bowers' side were crowned champions after the game.

The Duns clinched the league title at the weekend with a five-goal thumping of Tobermore United, and now stand on the cusp of completing the double with the Intermediate Cup final against Queen's University awaiting them early next week.

With perhaps one eye focused on that game, it was possibly no surprise when a Neil Clydesdale double just after the half-hour mark fired Banbridge into a commanding lead.

Jay Magee did pull one back for the Duns early in the second half only for Conor Downey to restore Town's two-goal cushion on 64 minutes.

The sides traded goals through Owain Beggs (71 minutes) and Michael Allison (83) later in the half as Town ran out winners.

After the final whistle Dundela were presented with the Premier Intermediate League trophy by Alyn Spratt, Bluefin Sport, and PIL chairman Aidan Murphy.
