MOYOLA Park put the visitors under pressure, particularly down the left wing where Gareth Stewart and Darren Walls combined to set up a number of attacks in the opening minutes of the game.

In one such move Sean McConnell shot inches over Damien Nugent's crossbar following a move involving Stewart.

The Castledawson men took the lead when Chris Dowie beat Nugent, with Stewart and Sean McConnell combining in the build-up.

For Swifts Neil Corr had a long range effort saved by Marty Farniok after 24 minutes.

But the Moyola 'keeper could do nothing to prevent Corr equalising from outside the penalty area seven minutes before the interval, when following a jinking run from near the right touchline, he rifled a shot into the top left hand corner of the Moyola Park net.

Sport and Leisure Swifts were the more energetic of the two sides for most of the second half.

Dowie cleared off his own line with Farniok beaten early in the half following a corner on the visitor's right flank.

Big Sean McCabe was busy at the heart of the home defence with John Donnan proving to be a lively threat. Steven Carlin shot over Farniok's crossbar and Michael McMullan headed wide minutes later.

It was only during the last ten minutes of the half that Moyola Park exerted any strong pressure on the visitor's defence.

A strong effort by Dowie was well blocked. Stephen McConnell replaced his namesake Sean McConnell and with the minutes ticking away he made a strong run down the right before crossing to Dowie who knocked the ball wide of Nugent's goal when a match winning opportunity seemed to be on the cards.
