A Lloyd Anderson goal late in the game handed Carrick Rangers victory over Warrenpoint Town at the Loughshore Hotel Arena.

For the visitors it was Barry Gray's first game back in charge of the club following Stephen McDonnell's midweek departure but just when it looked like he would guide them to only their fourth point of the campaign up popped substitute Anderson in the 90th minute to glance a header past Berraat Turker into the bottom corner.

The game got off to a quiet start with chances few and far between, the first effort of note coming from Carrick's Guillaume Keke on ten minutes when he fired past the post from close range.

'Point keeper Turker then denied Lee Chapman midway through the half after the Carrick man ran onto a Kyle Cherry chip before, early in the second half, he kept out a Stewart Nixon spot-kick awarded after William Faulkner had been brought down.

Warrenpoint's best moments came after that with Eamon Scannell and then Lorcan Forde seeing efforts thwarted by Carrick keeper Aaron Hogg.

But just when it looked like a draw would be the likely outcome Nixon delivered for Anderson to tuck away the winner.
