ARDS DO ENOUGH TO SECURE PLAY-OFF CHANCE

Ards earned another chance of top flight survival following this draw with Warrenpoint Town at Milltown.

Warren Feeney's side now face either Carrick Rangers or Portadown in the play-offs after securing the result they needed coupled with Newry City's home defeat to Dungannon Swifts.

Ards moved in front after 22 minutes through Jonah Heron, a last minute addition to the starting line-up, when his shot through a crowded goalmouth appeared to take a deflection on its way past 'Point keeper Jared Thompson.

It was a lead they held until a couple of minutes into the second half when Philip Donnelly levelled for Warrenpoint when he was quickest to react after Fra McCaffrey's initial effort fell loose.

Ards keeper Sam Johnston then saved from close range to thwart Danny Wallace's header while, at the other end, Eoghan McCawl saw his cross tipped over by Thompson.

Ciaran O'Connor then crafted the last real chance of the game with a left-foot curling drive which sailed just the wrong side of the upright.
