Rory Donnelly claims the match ball after his four goal haul (Picture:

RORY Donnelly opened the scoring for Cliftonville after eight minutes when he got on the end of a ball over the top to beat the advancing Wayne Drummond.

It was 2-0 on 13 minutes after Ryan Catney put the finishing touch to a four man passing move before Eamon Seydak added another for the rampant Reds in the 17th minute with a free-kick from the edge of the area into the bottom corner.

United pulled one back on 20 minutes courtesy of a Gary McCutcheon penalty awarded for a foul on Allan Jenkins.

But almost immediately Cliftonville restored their three goal cushion with a Chris Scannell header into the top corner.

Jordan Baker was unlucky on 36 minutes when his stunning volley from just outside the area struck the wrong side of an upright before falling wide.

On 40 minutes Donnelly made it 5-1 to the visitors although Jenkins reduced the lead a little two minutes after that when he forced the ball past John Connolly.

Any thoughts of a home revival were dashed seven minutes into the second half, however, when Rory Donnelly connected with a cross from the left to head beyond Drummond.

Donnelly then secured his hat-trick nine minutes later with a first time finish from a ball played through the middle.

Jenkins then completed the scoring two minutes from time when he touched the ball over the line after a bit of a scramble in the Cliftonville area.
