BLUES HIT FIVE AT WINDSOR

/>LINFIELD recovered from conceding an early goal to hit Ards for five at Windsor Park.

Ards stormed into the lead as early as the second minute after Willie Faulkner blasted a 25-yard drive beyond the reach of Jonathan Tuffey.

However, the Blues levelled on 11 minutes through Niall Quinn. Ards 'keeper Graeme McKibbin had drifted off his line and, despite his best efforts, was unable to prevent Quinn's free-kick from finding the net.

The visitors might have regained the advantage just a couple of minutes after that when Tuffey was forced to tip a Mark McClelland header over the bar.

Michael Carvill handed Linfield the half-time advantage on 42 minutes when he pounced on a poor Andy Smith backpass to walk the ball round McKibbin and into the net.

It was 3-1 on 50 minutes when Matthew Tipton converted from the spot after Jamie Mulgrew had been brought down by McKibbin.

Ben Roy clawed Ards back into the game on 66 minutes with a strong 15-yard drive after Kyle McVey failed to clear the ball.

But, within five minutes, Quinn made it 4-2 with a curling free-kick low to McKibbin's right from the edge of the area.

And Quinn was involved again ten minutes from time with a pinpoint corner which McVey met at the back post to head home Linfield's fifth.
