BYRNE DEPARTS BLUES FOR WALES

Linfield have announced the departure of forward Kurtis Byrne to Welsh Premier League side The New Saints.

28-year-old Byrne signed for the Belfast club in January from St. Patrick’s Athletic having previously had spells with Hibernian and Dundalk. He made 21 appearances, scoring six goals as Linfield finished the season in fourth place in the Danske Bank Premiership.

David Healy told the official Linfield website: "I wish to advise our supporters that after several discussions in recent weeks, agreement has been reached for Kurtis Byrne to leave Linfield for an undisclosed fee to join Welsh club TNS.

“Kurtis has advised us of his wish to move there for family reasons and out of a desire to return to full time football.

I would like to place on record my appreciation for his efforts while he was with us and I'd like to take this opportunity to wish him every success in the next stage of his playing career." The Dublin born player joins the Welsh Champions ahead of their Champions League qualifiers against Macedonian side Shkëndija next month.
