THE IFA Premiership Sub-Committee met this afternoon to review the fixture schedule for the remaining league games this season.

It was noted that to effect the IFA Premiership Management Committee’s decision on Monday, 7 March 2011 to play the matches as scheduled up to the split (including a deferred Glentoran –v- Linfield game on MD 33) would create significant difficulties in scheduling fixtures with the potential for teams to be without a fixture for up to 21 days (26 March – 16 April) and then be required to play 5 matches in a period of 16 days (16 April – 2 May) and the Sub-Committee unanimously agreed that this was an unacceptable situation.

Having considered all the permutations the Committee has approved the attached fixture schedule for the remaining matches, which is of course subject to change should any of the teams currently in positions 7-12 find themselves in the top 6 after MD 33.  Should this situation arise a full explanation is provided in the schedule.

The schedule has been amended for MD 33 to facilitate matches being played on all dates identified for the post split fixtures and in order to conclude the league season on Saturday, 30 April 2011.

Please also note that for MD 37 fixtures on Easter Tuesday, kick-off time for all of these matches will be 3.00 pm.

* The schedule is based on the top six teams and bottom six teams remaining in the same section (Section A – top 6 and Section B – bottom 6) as they currently stand.

* The schedule will require adjustment if the top six/bottom six changes after MD 33.

*Should this occur a straight swap between Lisburn Distillery and/or Ballymena United with the team or teams successful in achieving a top six position will be required as follows:-

i. If either Lisburn Distillery or Ballymena United slip into the bottom six then the club replacing them in the top six would simply swap fixtures (whether a team is home or away in such fixture will depend on previous meetings between the same teams; ie 2 matches at home and 2 matches away against all the teams in the same section after the split).

ii. If both Lisburn Distillery and Ballymena United slip into the bottom six then the team sitting in 5th place after MD 33 would swap fixtures with Lisburn Distillery and the team sitting in 6th place would swap fixtures with Ballymena United (home/away fixtures determined as above).
