Glenavon players celebrate Jay Magee's stoppage time equaliser (Picture:

STEPHEN O'Neill fired Carrick into the lead as early as the fourth minute with a clinical finish from Paul Heatley's pinpoint right wing cross.

Grant Hutchinson came close for Rangers after a quarter-of-an-hour with a 25-yard drive which was deflected wide while, for Glenavon, Jay Magee was unfortunate to see two efforts blocked on the line.

O'Neill struck again for Rangers four minutes into the second half with a straightfoward tap-in following another Heatley delivery.

Glenavon were thrown a glimmer of hope six minutes from time after O'Neill turned the ball past his own 'keeper as he attempted to clear a Kyle Neill corner.

And they made the most of this lifeline four minutes into stoppage time when Magee converted from the spot following an Anto Lagan foul on Andy Graham inside the area.
