DARREN Boyce might have handed the Glens an early advantage when, on 13 minutes, he pounced on a poor Dermot McVeigh back header only to fire wide with just 'keeper John Connolly to beat.

But the visitors did edge into the lead four minutes later when Stephen Carson floated over a curling right-footed cross almost from out at the corner flag which Connolly touched into his own net under pressure from Boyce as he attempted to clear.

The Reds came close on two occasions following Carson's goal with Rory Donnelly sending a ball just over while Ryan Catney saw a 25-yard drive clip the top of the bar.

Cliftonville did level, however, with 18 minutes remaining when, from a ball over the top of the defence, substitute Stephen Garrett kept his composure to fire past the hesitant Elliott Morris.

Garrett almost grabbed his second on 85 minutes when he got on the end of a long ball through the middle to beat three defenders before sending a low drive past both Morris and the upright.

Then, moments later, Ciaran Donaghy came close to snatching victory for Cliftonville only for his header to be cleared off the line by David Howland.

However, two minutes into stoppage time, disaster struck for the visitors when a Sean Ward clearance struck team-mate Ciaran Martyn and bounced past Morris to hand the Reds the most dramatic of last gasp winners.
