Dungannon Swifts stretched their unbeaten run to five games in all competitions with victory over Glentoran at Stangmore Park.

After a subdued opening to the game Dungannon began to assert themselves with Kris Lowe curling an effort from distance just wide while Chris Hegarty saw a header saved by Elliott Morris.

For their part Glentoran were restricted to half chances with Robbie McDaid sending a low drive well wide before Curtis Allen was thwarted by Hegarty as he almost crept in at the near post.

Then, inside the opening minute of the second half, Corey McMullan was inches away with an effort from outside the area as the Swifts continued to press.

The deadlock was broken in Dungannon's favour on 58 minutes. Paul McElroy won a corner following a great run down the left, and from Mark Patton's inswinging set piece Seanan Clucas guided the ball past Morris.

Neither side crafted many opportunities after that, although the Glens did step up a little as the game progressed but failed to show any real attacking intent in the face of a well disciplined home defence.
