CRUSADERS moved in front after just nine minutes through a Michael Halliday side-footed finish into the bottom corner after the Whites defence failed to clear a Gareth McKeown free-kick.

The visitors almost levelled, though, six minutes later only for a Gary Thompson drive to take a wicked deflection onto the crossbar.

Thompson went one better, however, on 62 minutes when he stooped to score from a Mark Patton cross from the left flank.

Declan Caddell almost restored the home lead just a couple of minutes later but his piledriver cannoned off the bar.

Timmy Adamson and David Rainey then had late chances for the Crues but, in the end, new Whites boss John Cunningham saw his charges hold on for their first point under his leadership.
