CRUSADERS 3-2 BALLYMENA UNITED

THE SKY Blues moved in front after barely four minutes after an Aaron Boyd left-foot drive from outside the area was parried into the net by Crues 'keeper Sean O'Neill.

But the hosts were back on level terms three minutes later through Jordan Owens who was presented with the simple task of tapping home at the back post after David Rainey had flicked the ball the on.

Then, on 20 minutes, Owens struck for the second time after he directed an Aidan Watson shot from a Ciaran Gargan free-kick towards goal.

Colin Coates then added a third on 61 minutes when he was allowed the time and space in the area to turn home a cross from the left.

United pulled one back in the 73rd minute from a Davy Munster header after he found himself unmarked in the area from an Alan Teggart cross.

And they might have levelled not long after only for leading scorer Gary McCutcheon to fail to beat O'Neill from the spot after he had been impeded in the area by Chris Morrow.

The Crues were reduced to ten men with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining when he was dismissed by referee Raymond Crangle for a challenge on Teggart.
