CULLY DOUBLE HELPS ARDS CLIMB OFF THE BOTTOM

ARDS climbed off the bottom of the table with victory over Coleraine at Clandeboye Park.

Both sides came close to breaking the deadlock inside the opening half-an-hour.

William Faulkner created the best chance for Ards when he forced Coleraine 'keeper Wayne Drummond into a right-handed save while, at the other end, Gary Browne scuffed a shot against an upright Ards 'keeper Graeme McKibbin managed to clear Gareth Tommons' attempted follow-up.

Drummond was called into further action later in the first half with a double save from Greg Hall and Andrew Mitchell while a Neil Dougan effort curled wide as Ards looked the more likely to open the scoring.

However, Coleraine moved in front after 58 minutes when Eoin Bradley beat the offside trap to race onto a through ball and lift it over McKibbin.

But Ards hit back with two goals from skipper James Cully.

On 65 minutes he got the final touch to a Steven McCullough free-kick to level before, on 73 minutes, he fired home a spot-kick awarded following Drummond's foul on Faulkner.

Mitchell then completed the scoring for Niall Currie's side six minutes after that when he ran onto a through ball to finished nicely past Drummond.
