CUSHLEY AND JENKINS ON TARGET AS SKY BLUES WIN AGAIN

BALLYMENA United continued their resurgence with victory over Warrenpoint Town at Stangmore Park.

Town started brightly with Daniel Hughes twice threatening but one effort was cleared by defender Johnny Taylor whilst the other was thwarted by the leg of 'keeper Stuart Addis.

Ballymena moved in front on 28 minutes through David Cushley when he curled the ball past Jonathan Parr from the far side of the box into the top corner.

Warrenpoint suffered a further blow five minutes later following Shaun Parr's dismissal for a second bookable offence in as many minutes.

The Sky Blues made it 2-0 a minute from the break through Allan Jenkins who sidefooted the ball home after Cushley laid off an Aaron Stewart pass.

The second half failed to provide the same drama although Ally Teggart might have extended Ballymena's lead only to fire over from a good position.

'Point came closest to reducing the deficit on 82 minutes only for Stephen Hughes to fail to beat Addis from an acute angle.
