Linfield have added to their squad with the signing of Daniel Kearns from Limerick as they mount their challenge for the Danske Bank Premiership title next season.

The 26-year-old Belfast born player has previously starred for Dundalk, Peterborough United, Carlisle United and Sligo Rovers. His only past experience in the NI Football League was with Glenavon during the 2015/16 campaign in which he picked up an Irish Cup winners medal.

Kearns signed a two year contract at Windsor Park after featuring in the Blues’ pre-season outing against Dundela on Saturday.

The new signing told the official Linfield website: “My aim is to enjoy my football and I want to score goals, win football matches and win trophies and I believe I can do that here.”

“I know there’s a lot of pressure on the players at this club, as the demands and the expectations are so great but the pressure will bring out the best of me and I’m used to handling pressure at my previous clubs.”

“At Linfield you have to be challenging and I want to contribute, to help get the club back among the challengers at the top of the table again.”

Daniel Kearns takes the arrivals at Linfield this summer to five, following the arrivals of Joel Cooper (Glenavon), Daniel Reynolds (Cliftonville), Jonathan Smith (Glentoran) and Lorcan Forde (Warrenpoint Town).
